Ayurveda can help women suffering from infertility too. Infertility is a situation where a couple is not able to conceive through regular intercourse without the use of contraceptives.
Causes of Infertility
- Mental disturbances such as depression, anxiety and insomnia can be a cause of infertility.
- Eating too much spicy and hot food leads to an increase in pitta in our body. This weakens the formation of “shukradhatu” that affects the chances to conceive.
- Controlling sexual urges from too long can also be a reason behind infertility.
Ayurvedic Treatment for Infertility
Enhance “ShukraDhatu” in your body
The quantity and quality of shukrashatu is very essential for healthy conception. An enhancement in shkradhantu can increase your reproductive capacity. This is applicable on both men and women. There are several food items that can enhance shukradhatu, they are regarded as vrishya. For women, grains such as quinoa can enhance estrogenic activity. It is also beneficial in balancing the hormonal activity in a woman’s body. You can eat pineapple for a healthy ovum.
Say no to spicy food
The importance of shukradhatu is quite evident when it comes to reproductive health. Shukradhatu actually means sheet or cold dhatu. This needs a cold environment to support fertility. This is why consuming too much spicy and hot food can hinder the quality of shurkadhatu and can affect the performance of ovum.
This is one of the most popular infertility treatments in Ayurveda. In shirodhara therapy, a specific blend of oils is used on the head to treat hormonal imbalances. Moreover, the rhythmic movement of oils over the forehead works great to bring mind into a balanced state.
Shirodhara therapy stimulates the pituitary, hypothalamus and pineal glands to foster proper communication between them. This allows the secretion of adequate amount of hormones such as FSH. The FSH hormone helps in the growth of ovarian follicles. The ovarian follicles cannot release egg without FSH.
Basti enema of certain type of medicated oil is given via rectum. This procedure regulates ‘apanvayu’ and is also helpful in elimination of ‘doshas’. Apanvayu improves the quality of the ovum in women.
